Skinny: On the August day he was introduced as the coach, Howard Moore promised the Flames are going to get hot. But who expected the heat to rise so quickly? UIC is on a roll after defeating Rhode Island on Sunday to wrap up its local portion of the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic. Senior point guard Robo Kreps (20.0 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 3.4 apg) earned MVP honors, while senior forward Paul Carter (17.0 ppg, 6.8 rpg) earned a spot on the all-tourney team. This marks another great test for UIC as Central Michigan is considered the MAC West favorite. The Chippewas feature freshman Trey Zeigler, who was ranked 29th nationally in last year's recruiting class. He's averaging 19.3 points and 6.8 rebounds per game for his coach/father, Ernie.
