Wants answers from Hultgren
I'd like to congratulate Randy Hultgren on his election to Congress. I'd also like to ask him some questions about comments he made in the Nov. 4 Daily Herald.
The comments concerned health care and health care reform. Specifically, the Herald stated: “He set a lofty goal of repealing the (health reform) package in its entirety within the next two years.”
What concerns me is you want to have the package repealed in its entirety. Surely there must be some attributes of this package that are worth keeping and using as a framework for improvement. I mention this because the following six items are all part of the package and from my perspective I see all of these items as positive for people like me who need health care: prevents insurance companies from canceling your policy if you get sick; stops insurance companies from denying coverage to children with pre-existing conditions; prohibits setting lifetime limits on insurance policies issued or renewed after Sept. 23, 2010; phases out annual dollar limits on coverage over the next three years; allows you to designate any available participating primary care doctor as your provider; removes insurance company barriers to receiving emergency care and prevents them from charging you more because you're out of network.
I would like to hear from you why these items should be repealed. What negatives do these items have that make them targets to be cut? In your response, please be specific with your answers. For example, how many jobs will the elimination of each of these items create over the next two years? Or, how will these items bankrupt our economy?
