Pedestrian killed in Elgin
A 64-year-old woman was killed Monday evening after being struck by a vehicle as she was crossing an intersection in Elgin, according to police.
Helen F. Cahill was crossing South McLean Boulevard. at College Green Drive near Elgin Community College when she was struck by a gray Ford pickup, said Susan Olafson of the Elgin Police Department.
Cahill was taken to Provena St. Joseph Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, Olafson said.
Numerous witnesses called police just before 8 p.m. reporting the accident.
Police said the driver stopped after striking the woman.
No citations have been issued at this point, and the investigation continues.
