Aurora woman accused of fatally stabbing boyfriend
Bail was set at $1 million today for a 25-year-old Aurora woman charged with first-degree murder in the stabbing death of her 44-year-old live-in boyfriend.
Faith M. Martin, of the 400 block of North River Street, is accused of stabbing Willie J. Arrington during an argument at their apartment Sunday afternoon.
Associate Judge Leonard Wojtecki set Martin's bail, which requires her to post $100,000 to be released, and she was taken to the Kane County jail.
Police and firefighters responded to a 911 call at about 1:15 p.m., and had to force their way into the second-floor apartment, said Dan Ferrelli, Aurora public information director.
Arrington had been stabbed in the chest, and was taken to Provena Mercy Center Hospital in Aurora where he was pronounced dead at 2:25 p.m., Ferrelli said.
Ferrelli added that Martin ran to a neighboring apartment and called police after the stabbing. She then returned to her home, where police arrested her. The knife used in the stabbing was recovered in the neighboring apartment, he said.
The Kane County Coroner's office said it would conduct an autopsy for Arrington on Tuesday.
Martin is due next in court on Dec. 8.
Before today, Martin had not been charged with any felonies in Kane County.
According to court records, she's been cited with a variety of traffic offenses, including child endangerment in connection with a traffic stop in November 2006 when she was driving with a suspended license and no insurance.
Martin was completed 40 hours of community service for that offense, court records showed.
