2 arrested in stolen merchandise ring
Authorities in Chicago say two men have been arrested for allegedly selling millions of dollars in stolen merchandise at a warehouse on the city's North Side.
Both men face theft and money laundering charges.
The Cook County State's Attorney's office alleges the men were running a criminal enterprise by purchasing big quantities of stolen merchandise, removing security tags and then selling the items for a profit.
The men are 36-year-old Ajay Patel of Glenview and 37-year-old Vijay Patel of Lincolnwood.
It was immediately unclear if the men had attorneys. A number for Vijay Patel in Lincolnwood had been disconnected. A message for Ajay Patel in Glenview wasn't immediately returned Sunday.
The arrests came after a joint investigation by the state's attorney's office and the Chicago Police Department.
