Recall doesn't solve BG's pressing issues
That Lisa Stone is no longer a member of the Buffalo Grove village board does not bring us any closer to an explanation of the issues of the missing tapes, secret meetings, lack of transparency in the government or any other questions that she attempted to bring to the fore.
Elliott Hartstein's behavior at the “victory celebration” was appalling. His lame apology and explanation that he was “caught up in the moment” does little to explain that there was a wig with which he could make a fool of himself at the party. Could it be that he brought the wig fully intending to mock Mrs. Stone?
Had she run against Mr. Hartstein, or anyone else, for an elected position a victory party would have been expected as a normal election custom but the recall was a vote that should not have been celebrated no matter what the outcome, as the village of Buffalo Grove was the embarrassed loser.
That it was held pointed out that the village has a president who is not capable of conducting a board meeting. That she could upset board meetings shows that to be the case, a competent leader is in control of such meetings and does not allow any member to usurp that control.
It appears that Mr. Hartstein would rather start recall proceedings than learn to conduct a meeting or field questions that may be embarrassing or call his integrity into question, a dangerous precedent in a democracy.
