BGHS dance helps military families

On November 10, over 120 students from Buffalo Grove High School hosted their first Dance-a-thon, dancing for over four hours for Salute, Inc.

These young folks raised $6,500 and further elevated the level of awareness of the service and sacrifice our military service members, veterans and their families make for all of us.

This spirit of giving entails more than just showing up to dance, but through the leadership of Katie Donewald, John Wohlner and all the other students, they spent months preparing and planning to make this event a success similar to what our service members do for us daily, as they prepare and train for missions and events that in essence guarantee our freedoms.

As we do not see many of these efforts, it is easy to forget or take for granted the service and sacrifices made on our behalf.  That is why I am honored and thankful to Katie, John, and all the other BGHS students who participated, as they do not fully realize that they were really dancing for all of U.S.

Their efforts will allow Salute, Inc. to help many more military families and veterans, and more importantly provide the support these folks need when they are wounded or deal with many other challenges.

As I mentioned to Katie and the audience at the Veterans Day event at BGHS on November 11th, Katie and her peers did not just dance and raise money, but they provided another brick in the foundation of our support for our heroes and more importantly for all our freedoms and way of life.

The parents, teachers, and administrators at BGHS should be proud as they have instilled a spirit of giving that ensures freedom for all of US. Thank you again!
