Someday our culture will respect life
Fence Post writer Jim Finnegan of Barrington always inspires me with his thoughtful reflections on the battle between good and evil, life vs. death. His comparison of our current acceptance of abortion to the Jewish Holocaust in Nazi Germany was right on target. None of us would believe we'd go along with that torture, murder and burning of innocent victims if we had known it was going on at that time. That would be unthinkable, of course, for all of us.
Human beings have a God-given right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Even animals are naturally treated with respect. Who would not stop the dismemberment and decapitation of a defenseless little puppy? Or even a spider? People who would do those things would be considered cruel and heartless, to be sure. Yet we do it to our own children? This is insanity.
Hopefully, someday soon we'll look back on this time in the world, and when children see pictures of mutilated and burned up tiny little babies, they will say, “How was this allowed to happen?” And their parents will answer, “That was before people knew what they were doing. It will never happen again. Everyone knows babies are the most beautiful creatures in the world.”
Thank you, Mr. Finnegan, for being a true hero of those who cannot speak up for themselves. You are not alone in the battle for a culture of life. God is on your side!
