Scouting Naperville North girls basketball

Naperville North

Coach: Jacquie Discipio.

Last year: 7-20, 5-9 in the DuPage Valley Conference; lost to Lockport 44-40 in Class 4A West Aurora regional quarterfinal.

Top players: Shannon Bushman, jr., G; Zoe Swift, so., G; Caitlin Knoll, sr., F; Emily Koch, sr., F; Christina Schmidt, sr., F; Britney Weizeorick, jr., G; Jenna Jatczak, sr., F.

Scouting report: A big crop of nine seniors, plus Discipio now entering her third year as coach, lends much-needed stability to the Huskies program. Bushman was the Huskies starting point guard last year and brings a high basketball IQ. Swift, a member of the U.S. Under-15 girls national soccer team, adds raw athleticism and tremendous floor vision. Koch is a fluid post who can play in the paint or outside. Knoll and Jatczak played primarily JV last year but are expected to make bigger contributions. “I think the Naperville North girls are finally hitting their stride,” Discipio said. “We showed flashes last year. Now we’re looking for more consistency.”
