Scouting report: After taking a couple of years off, O’Brien is back at Downers South and working to change the Mustangs’ style of play. “We’re getting there, day by day, we’re getting there,” she said. It’s going to take a little time, however. The Mustangs are working on their transition game and set plays, especially against a zone. They’re also working hard on the fundamentals. Saraceno is an all-conference player, and “I expect she will be a strong leader for us,” O’Brien said. Dec was the team MVP last year, and at 6-foot she has the size the team needs. “She’s a good scorer,” O’Brien said. “She can finish inside. She’s got pretty good range.” Thurman also was all-conference and brings some size at 5-10. Franklin is a track star who knows how to use her speed on the basketball court. “She’s quite talented,” O’Brien said.
