Scouting: UIC Flames @ Toledo

UIC (1-1) at Toledo (0-2)

When: 6 p.m. Friday at Savage Arena

Live audio: ESPNChicago.com

Skinny: Remember when UIC played at Pittsburgh last week as part of the 2K Sports Classic benefiting Coaches vs. Cancer? Now comes the back half of the payoff as the Flames play three games in Toledo this weekend. College of Charleston (3:30 p.m. Saturday) and Rhode Island (1:30 p.m. Sunday) will provide huge challenges, but today's game should be a good chance for Howard Moore's first win over a Div. I foe. Moore should be familiar with Toledo because Wisconsin played Green Bay in years past. New Toledo coach Tod Kowalczyk (from Green Bay) is like Moore in that he has a zillion new players while trying to teach a new system. Toledo's chances could depend on whether freshman PG J.T. Thomas (foot) is healthy enough to make his college debut. Senior F Paul Carter paces the Flames with 15 ppg and 6.5 rpg.
