Summa signs supply agreement with Medline

MUNDELEIN -- Medline Industries Inc., a privately held manufacturer and distributor of health care supplies, announced today the signing of a cost management prime vendor agreement with Akron, Ohio-based Summa Health System. Under the five-year agreement, Summa will receive a broad array of Medline brand medical and surgical products, including surgical procedure trays, patient care products, disposable protective gowns, exam gloves and bandages.

Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Cost savings and customer service were key factors in making Medline Summa's prime vendor throughout their seven facilities. Medline will deliver manufactured products direct to the health care facility from its newly built 300,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art distribution facility in Canton, Ohio.

Medline also will reduce distribution fees on other national brand products and product standardization. In addition, Medline will provide enhanced reporting capabilities and offer comprehensive product utilization, education and practical solutions to help the facility control costs and improve patient care.
