Liberal policies have destroyed Illinois

Regarding the letter published Nov. 13 from James Cook, I guess it all depends on perception. You suggest we “return to when the top tax rate was 91 percent and we had the biggest economic expansion in history.”

Might that be a time when the government was smaller and less intrusive in our lives? Or “when manufacturing literally gave jobs to millions,” might that be before environmentalists with their lawyers were suing every corporations' attempts to build manufacturing plants?

Finally, you suggest tea party people are a dangerous faction, but what about the factions such as environmentalists, unions, liberal progressives; might they be called factions? Might they be what James Madison was referring to? Over the past two years we have seen how dangerous the oppressive liberal policies of these factions can “destroy” as you put it, our own society.

Just look at how the liberal policies have destroyed California, Michigan, Illinois, New York, Shall I continue? It's not moving backward when you are returning to what works.
