Aurora at-large race gains third candidate

The race for Aurora alderman-at-large now has three candidates.

Kevin Mathews filed Wednesday with the Aurora Election Commission. He will be facing Judd Lofschie and incumbent Richard Irvin, who both filed earlier in the week. Matt Harrington announced his intent to run, but has not yet filed.

If Harrington and one other candidate file, the contest for alderman-at-large will be a five-way race and will require a primary, which would be held Feb. 22. Otherwise the election will be in April.

Other contested races include those for the fifth and sixth wards. Incumbents John S. “Whitey” Peters and Mike Saville both have filed for re-election. In the fifth ward, Dean Myles filed Monday to run against Peters, and in the sixth ward, Isaac Count De Money Wilson filed Monday to face Saville.

Candidates have until Monday to file for election or re-election.
