Walk off holiday meal on Tekakwitha Woods hike
Too much feasting during the holidays? Need a break from the kitchen and football?
Come out to Tekakwitha Woods Forest Preserve on Friday, Nov. 26, for a naturalist-led walk over the Fox River and through the woods.
The 10 to 11 a.m. walk will begin at the Tekakwitha Woods parking lot, wind through the woods along the trails, cross the Fox River on the bike bridge, and continue into the Jon J. Duerr Forest Preserve. The program will then conclude at the Tekakwitha Woods Nature Center, where families are welcome to warm up and enjoy the hands-on exhibits and displays.
“Take a break this holiday season and come out for some exercise, fresh air and fun on this guided hike,” said Forest Preserve Nature Programs manager Valerie Blaine. “On this annual Thanksgiving walk, we may not reach Grandma's house, but we'll have fun looking for wildlife and signs of the changing season.”
To register for this free nature program, call (847) 741-8350 or e-mail programs@kaneforest.com. Registration is required and organized groups must schedule a separate tour.
