Fox River Trolley to take you to North Pole
The ghosts and goblins are gone and Thanksgiving beckons. It's time for the Fox River Trolley Museum in South Elgin to say goodbye for the 2010 season but there are still a couple of chances to ride the museum's historic trolley cars before they go off to a winter's slumber.
“Santa's Trolley” on Nov. 26-28 features a reading of Clement Clarke Moore's traditional Christmas classic, “The Night Before Christmas.” Those who ride will be magically transported from the boarding point, at Blackhawk station in the Jon J. Duerr Forest Preserve, on Route 31 in St. Charles Township, to the “North Pole” to meet Santa and Mrs. Claus. Each child will receive a special gift.
There also will be live music and a chance to sing your favorite carols as the train goes to and from the North Pole, with plenty of hot chocolate and cookies served by Santa's elves. Tickets are $23 for all ages, with trains leaving each day at 2:55, 4, 5:05, 6:10 and 7:15 p.m. Reserve seats online today at www.foxtrolley.org/reservations.html. No passes will be honored, and there will be no refunds or exchanges unless a train is canceled.
The museum's popular Polar Express trains in December are sold out. For additional information, or to charter a train, call (847) 697-4676.
