Pedestrian killed in Elgin
A 66-year-old man was struck and killed by a vehicle as he crossed Dundee Road in Elgin Saturday night, police said.
The pedestrian was hit at the intersection of Dundee and Ann Street by a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck around 6:10 p.m., said police spokeswoman Sue Olafson.
The victim was taken to Provena St. Joseph Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Olafson said.
The area around the intersection was closed off Saturday night as police investigated the incident.
The driver, an 18-year-old male, wasn't being charged, Olafson said.
