Parents of Wis. teen who drowned file claim

TOWN OF LAFAYETTE, Wis. -- The parents of a western Wisconsin teen who drowned after falling from a rope swing into a creek has filed a claim against the local town.

Sixteen-year-old Justin Buss was swinging on a rope swing over Paint Creek last July, hit a cliff, fell into the water and drowned.

The Town of LaFayette received the claim this week. Chairman Dave Staber says a backhoe was used to close the access point to the creek, so it's no longer possible to put up a rope swing.

Terry Buss and Lisa Lien are seeking $625,000. The town board will take up the claim Monday night.

WEAU-TV says Buss would have been a junior at Chippewa Valley High School this fall.
