Final Fall Curbside Leaf Collection Cycle Begins Monday, November 15

All Bagged and Bundled Yard Waste Collection Ends on December 17

The City of Naperville's final fall curbside leaf collection cycle begins on Monday, November 15. All leaves should be raked to the curb by 6 a.m. on that day. The final collection cycle is expected to take approximately two weeks to complete. Once Department of Public Works crews have completed the final collection in a neighborhood, residents should place any remaining leaves in yard waste bags and place them by the curb on their normal garbage collection day.

The city's curbside leaf collection program provides every neighborhood with three curbside collection opportunities starting in October. To participate, residents must rake leaves into the street, next to the curb, at the beginning of each of the three leaf collection cycles.

Snow, rain or freezing weather may significantly delay or permanently halt curbside leaf collection. If snow is forecast, residents should bag any remaining leaves. Once crews have completed the final collection in an area, all remaining leaves must be bagged for pickup through the bagged leaf collection program.

Branches, twigs, lumber and items other than leaves buried in leaf piles can cause mechanical breakdowns of leaf equipment and delay the collection process. Mechanical leaf loaders do leave debris on the street after collection.

Through Friday, December 17, residents can also fill paper yard waste bags with leaves and other yardwaste and place them by the curb on their normal garbage collection day. No sticker is required through December 17. At that time, all yard waste collection ends for the year. Branches and other yardwaste that are tied in bundles require a sticker at all times. The city encourages all residents to take advantage of the free bagging program, which helps to handle the huge volume of fall leaves. Yard waste collection will resume in March 2011.
