FBI: Zion man robbed two banks
A Zion man has admitted to robbing two area banks within the past week following his arrest Tuesday night shortly after his second holdup, according to court documents.
Clayton K. Jemine, of Zion, is charged with robbing a TCF Bank in the Jewel Osco store on the 1400 block of 21st Street in Zion late Tuesday afternoon, according to a criminal complaint against him
Jemine also admitted to robbing a second TCF Bank in a Jewel Osco in Waukegan on the 900 block of North Green Bay Road on Nov. 5, according to an affidavit.
Police located Jemine five minutes after the Zion robbery locked in a vehicle approximately a mile-and-a-half away from the bank, according to the FBI.
Responding officers reported that a black skull cap, which he was seen wearing during both robberies, and a large quantity of cash were visible inside the parked vehicle when they arrived, according to the FBI.
Jemine told police on Tuesday he demanded the teller at the Zion TCF Bank to give him the money and that he did not want to have to hurt anyone. He left the store with $620 in cash, which included a bank security device, according to the FBI.
Jemine also admitted that on Nov. 5, while robbing the TCF Bank in Waukegan, he told a teller to give him all the money from the bottom drawer and that he had a gun. The teller gave Jemine $1,320 in cash before he left the store, according to court documents.
Jemine was captured on video surveillance at both stores, and was wearing the same clothing in both robberies, according to the FBI. The jacket he was wearing was found next to the vehicle where he was arrested.
Jemine told investigators he robbed the banks to get money to pay off a drug debt, according to court documents.
