Fey gets the Twain

Fey gets the Twain

Tina Fey, former Second City and “Saturday Night Live” trouper and star of “30 Rock,” receives the Mark Twain Prize for comedy in a new PBS special airing at 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 14, on WTTW Channel 11. Betty White is among those semi-roasting her in a ceremony at the Kennedy Center.

Thanks for nuthin'

The CW keeps pushing the holiday themes (what else has it got?) when “One Tree Hill” has a special Thanksgiving episode at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16, on WGN Channel 9. It's liable to spoil any viewer's Turkey Day appetite.

In a ‘Daze'

TBS takes yet another stab at the nostalgic college comedy this one set in the mid-'80s when the series “Glory Daze” debuts at 9 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16. Former “SNL” trouper Tim Meadows co-stars as a bitterly liberal professor, which pretty much stamps it as a hackneyed comic retread. Count the gags you've seen before in “Animal House” and “Porky's,” and see if you're not sound asleep by the end.

Hi ‘Blob'

“The Blob” is a classic '50s horror movie, campy without even intending to be. Steve McQueen is the high-school hotshot trying to halt the all-devouring title creature. Aneta Corsaut, who would later play Helen Crump on “The Andy Griffith Show,” provides the love interest. McQueen and Corsaut, then both in their mid-20s, are the world's oldest teenagers, and it's a wonder they fooled anyone back in those less-jaded times. Must've helped that the audience was necking in the backseat at the drive-in. It's at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, on Turner Classic Movies.

Aneta Corsaut and Steve McQueen are the world’s oldest teens in “The Blob.”
