Sen. Durbin to film cameo in Hollywood movie

Lights! Camera! Action! Sen. Dick Durbin is making his Hollywood debut.

The Illinois senator's office said Monday that Durbin will have a cameo role in a single scene for the upcoming movie "Contagion" directed by Oscar winner Steven Soderbergh. Durbin is to film the scene on Tuesday in Chicago. His office says it's alongside actor Laurence Fishburne.

In the scene, Durbin will chair a Senate hearing and have a single line of dialogue. Durbin says he's "a little nervous" but all the hours on C-SPAN have prepared him for the moment.

"Contagion" is about the spread of an airborne virus that kills within days.

Durbin's office says the cast also includes Marion Cotillard, Matt Damon, Jude Law, Gwyneth Paltrow and Kate Winslet.
