Voting editorial was on the mark
I want to compliment you and your Friday, Oct. 29 “Our View” editorial regarding “Tune out noise to cast a sacred vote.” It was right on!
As terrible as the negative political ads have been, what's worse is the animosity and misinformation that is being spewed out among friends and neighbors, all potential voters. Voting is a private and personal matter, and these actions should be frowned upon by all of us.
I will now admit that I was so disgusted with the candidates that I had every intention of voting for a non-contender by exercising my write-in privilege. But after reading your article, especially (and I quote), “You're foregoing an opportunity others have died for in other lands,” I knew I had to vote for someone who has a fair chance of winning.
It is my fervent hope that my country and its people come together to solve the myriad problems that face us, as opposed to sustaining political polarization, which will accomplish nothing.
Only by voting for the most well intentioned candidates is there a possibility in which that hope can be realized.
Thank you again.
