Des Plaines police ask drivers for help
Des Plaines police officers set up a roadblock Monday night at the site where a 17-year-old boy died in an unsolved hit and run and handed out fliers hoping to spark the memory of someone who may have seen the vehicle.
Police stopped every vehicle that passed through the stop-sign intersection between 6 and 7 p.m. Monday, the same time period that Choice Taylor was struck by a semi tractor truck near the intersection of East Algonquin Road and Third Avenue Friday night.
“We are doing it at the same time that the incident happened last Friday,” said Des Plaines Police Chief Jim Prandini. “We are trying to be out here every day this week just to try and trigger something somebody may have seen last Friday.”
A makeshift memorial of flowers and candles shined just steps from the spot of the accident as temporary police spot lights lit the dark street.
Police questioned each driver as they handed out fliers describing the incident, hoping information such as a description of a truck decal might emerge, Prandini said.
