Village of Lombard, American Legion and VFW Post 5815 join in honoring veterans with Nov. 11 ceremony

LOMBARD, Illinois--The American Legion Post 391, the VFW Post 5815 and the Village of Lombard are partnering together in planning the 2010 Veterans Day ceremony. The ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 11 at Volunteer Plaza, located at the southwest corner of Main Street and St. Charles Road.

Lombard Village President Bill Mueller will serve as the master of ceremonies for the program. Deacon Frank Annerino of Sacred Heart Church will give the invocation. Ed Krupiczowicz, District Commander for the 19th District of the VFW, of which Lombard is a member, will give the main address. Committee Chair Anthony Maroney, Commander of American Legion Post 391, assisted by VFW 5815 Post Commander George Miller, have been planning the ceremony for the past few months.

In an effort to remember the outstanding courage and commitment to freedom made by our veterans, Mueller invites all residents, especially local scout troops and families to join with him, the American Legion and the VFW to say “thank you” to our veterans who have given and continue to give so much for the freedom that we enjoy each day in our great country. Public parking is available in the municipal lot behind Morning Star Books and Gifts in downtown Lombard or any commuter lot and street

parking is available nearby. For residents who are unable to attend the ceremony, Mueller encourages them to stop whatever they are doing at 11 a.m. on Veterans Day to remember veterans in a special way at that time.

Scout troops of all kinds are invited to attend. Anyone interested in participating, or with questions regarding the event, please contact Joelyn Kott, communications coordinator, at (630) 620-5718.
