Holiday activities at Main Street Promenade will begin Thanksgiving weekend
Main Street Promenade is adding spice to downtown holiday shopping this year with over $2,000 in gift-card prizes, free horse-drawn carriage rides, the illumination of a beautiful holiday tree by "American Idol" finalist Gina Glocksen, barbershop singers, Holly Trolley rides, and coupon giveaways. These activities will be part of Hometown Holidays, an annual tradition coordinated by the Downtown Naperville Alliance.
Free Horse-Drawn Carriage Rides
The fun will begin Thanksgiving weekend, during Friday's Hometown Holidays Kickoff, when the decorated horse-drawn carriage makes its first appearance in the Electric Light Parade. The horses will return to Main Street Promenade the next four Sundays, beginning Nov. 28, and provide free carriage rides to shoppers from 2 to 5 p.m. Valuable merchant coupons will also be given out on those days.
Holiday Tree Illumination with Gina Glocksen on Nov. 26
The illumination of a beautifully decorated 15-foot tree will take place in the archway of the Main Street Promenade following the parade on Friday, Nov. 26. "American Idol" finalist Gina Glocksen will sing holiday songs and flip the magical switch, lighting the festive gold and red tree. Totally Tuned Barbershop Quartet will entertain visitors while everyone enjoys hot chocolate, donated by Naperville Dental Specialists and Innovative Orthodontics.
Prize Drawings
Beginning in mid-November, Main Street Promenade and Washington Corners shoppers will have the opportunity to sign up for a series of prize drawings. The evening of the tree illumination, five names will be drawn, and each winner will receive a gift card valued at $100. One additional $100 gift-card winner will be drawn each week through Dec. 24. Then, on New Year's Eve, a grand prize winner will earn a shopping spree valued at more than $1,000.
Free Holly Trolley and Family Photos
For the convenience of shoppers, Main Street Promenade is once again sponsoring free “Holly Trolley” rides on Nov. 26-27, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The trolley will transport visitors to seven convenient pick-up and drop-off locations downtown.
The Promenade's colorful tree will be the backdrop for other holiday activities coordinated by the Downtown Naperville Alliance. Wolf Camera will be taking family photos at the Promenade and giving a free 4 x 6 photo to families from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Nov. 27-28.
