• Auditions for the one-act play “Save Me a Place at Forest Lawn” are at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, at United Methodist Church, 848 Main St., Antioch. The cast consists of two women who can convincingly depict the two elderly women in the story who face an uncertain future. Auditions include cold readings from the script. • Mahoney's Pub & Grille seeks a Chicago Idol for its Third Annual “Road to Fame” Vocal Contest. Vocalists can perform in front a panel of judges from 8 to 11 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9, at 551 North Ogden Ave., Chicago. Two other rounds of semifinals follow in subsequent weeks. The grand prize winner of Road to Fame will receive 24 hours of recording and production services from Slang Musicgroup, owned and operated by Chicago music producer and Road to Fame judge, Vince Lawrence. • Elgin Community College Musical Theatre has auditions for Frank Loesser's 1950 musical comedy “Guys and Dolls” from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 11, and from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13. • Pinstripes Bowling, Bocce and Bistro holds its fourth annual art contest. Interested artists are sought to create paintings inspired by activities and games at Pinstripes locations in South Barrington, Northbrook and Edina, Minn. Painters will share their works of art with the community (each entry receives a $10 Pinstripes gift certificate). Artwork should be submitted by Monday, Nov. 15, at one of the three Pinstripes locations. There is prize money for winners in the age groups of 6-12, 13-17 and 18 and older. Visit pinstripes.com.

• The Curt Teich Postcard Archives at the Lake County Discovery Museum seeks entries for its ninth biennial Postcard Art Competition and Exhibition (PACE). The juried competition examines the postcard as an art form and challenges artists, ages 18 and older, to create original works of art in a 4-by-6-inch size.
