Meth lab found in Dundee Twp.
The makings of a methamphetamine lab were found abandoned in Dundee Township near Sleepy Hollow, police said.
Kane County Sheriff's deputies responded at 2:12 p.m. Saturday to the 14N400 block of Sleepy Hollow Road north of the I-90 overpass after a man searching the area for firewood called 911 to report finding a bag containing suspicious materials.
On arrival, police said officers found a black duffel bag containing glass jars, a brown plastic bag, plastic tubing and a bottle of muriatic acid.
Rutland Dundee firefighters, the Kane County Bomb Squad and the Illinois Sate Police Meth Response team arrived a short time later.
State police determined the materials to be a “generic attempt of a meth lab,” which appeared to be older. The response team collected the materials and cleaned up the area, police said.
