Lake Forest Hospital gets award

For the sixth year in a row, a consumer study by National Research Corporation named Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital the “Consumer Choice” hospital for Lake and Kenosha counties. The award is presented to the hospital with the highest rankings in four categories: best doctors, best nurses, best quality and best overall reputation.

“We are honored to receive this award for the sixth consecutive year,” says Thomas J. McAfee, President of Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital. “This is a great testament to our continuing commitment to quality care for our patients. We are proud to be a hospital that our community can trust.”

Each year, the award identifies hospitals that health care consumers in more than 300 markets throughout the U.S. have identified as their top choices. Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital has won the award every year that the NRC has surveyed the Lake-Kenosha County market.

“As care options multiply and financial challenges remain strong, consumer perceptions of quality continue to grow in importance,” said Ginny Martin, President of NRC's Ticker Division.

Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital has exemplified its commitment to the community over the past year. Through the hospital's recent affiliation with Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, local residents now have more access to the region's top physicians and clinical programs at a top ranked academic medical center. The hospital recently received Stroke Certification from the Joint Commission and dedicated the new Wood-Prince Family Stroke Center at its Lake Forest campus. At its Grayslake location, the hospital opened a state-of-the-art Cancer Center and plans to open an outpatient surgery center in the spring of 2011.
