Lombard Village Hall drop-off collection for 13th annual coat drive
This year marks the 13th annual year for the collection, with more than 28,000 coats distributed since it began. Many requests for warm clothing have already come in from local agencies, according to Senator Cronin's office. Gently used coats, jackets, scarves and mittens will be accepted at the Lombard Village Hall through Dec. 15.
The items collected are distributed to many organizations that help the needy, including York Township Public Assistance, families in local school district, veterans at Hines Hospital, the Ray Graham Association, Parliament Square Resource Center, Lombard and Elmhurst Walk-In Ministries and several church emergency clothing centers, just to name a few.
“Please take a few minutes to clean out your closets and consider donating some warm clothing to those in need,” said Village President William Mueller. “Our residents have always responded so generously in the past and we appreciate their support of those less fortunate,” said Mueller.
The donation box is accessible during normal village hall hours, which are: 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays; 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesdays to Fridays; and closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
