Time to cut pay of government workers

I get thoroughly disgusted every time the media reminds us about government workers' high compensation, perks, and excessive pensions. When budget reductions are necessary, instead of cutting essential social programs, why can't we cut salaries and benefits, the majority of every government budget?

When will reasonable politicians step up to the plate and fight for appropriate, moral resolutions? Private sector companies undoubtedly cut salaries and benefits during economic downturns. I applaud any politician that can do the same in government.

With so many underemployed and unemployed struggling to get more income in a job market where you are lucky to get $10 an hour for labor intensive, factory positions, how can we justify taxpayer dollars going toward six-figure salaries with benefits galore?

Let's put away our greed and share the wealth a little more fairly.
