Feds: Oak Park man assaulted Ind. girl

NOBLESVILLE, Ind. -- A Chicago area man faces federal charges after authorities say he drove to suburban Indianapolis and had a sexual encounter with a 12-year-old girl he met online.

The U.S. attorney's office said 29-year-old Samuel Henzel of Oak Park, Ill., was being held Tuesday on federal charges of child enticement and traveling in interstate commerce with intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct.

Authorities say Henzel met the girl in a chat room and traveled to Westfield where he met her at a hotel Saturday. The girl contacted police later, saying Henzel had sexually assaulted her, and Henzel was arrested.

A detention hearing is scheduled for Nov. 4. It wasn't clear whether he had an attorney.

If convicted, Henzel faces from 10 years to life in prison and could be fined $250,000.
