Pedestrian killed by Metra train in Bartlett

A pedestrian was struck and killed in Bartlett early Monday morning by the first eastbound Metra train of the day, officials said.

Train 2200 left Elgin at 4:17 a.m. and struck the as yet unidentified pedestrian at about 4:30 a.m. near Naperville Road, nearly two miles west of the Bartlett commuter station, according to Metra officials.

Investigators from Metra and Bartlett police are still looking into how the incident occurred and have not yet specified the pedestrian's gender or age.

The early morning incident caused delays between 15 and 20 minutes throughout the rush hour period on the Milwaukee District West Line, but train schedules returned to normal just about 9:30 a.m., Metra officials said.
