Loyola men's basketball promotes Baldwin
Patrick Baldwin, a former standout player at Northwestern, has been elevated to the post of associate head men's basketball coach at Loyola, head coach Jim Whitesell announced Friday.
Baldwin, who is entering his seventh season on Whitesell's staff at Loyola, has helped the Ramblers to 93 wins during his tenure in Rogers Park.
“Pat has been an outstanding member of our program for seven years and is deserving of this promotion,” Whitesell said. “A tireless worker who is both dedicated and loyal, Pat has served as an excellent role model for our student-athletes and has been a fine representative of Loyola since the day he arrived on campus.”
In his six years in Rogers Park, Baldwin has mentored an Honorable Mention All-America selection, All-Horizon League picks, All-Defensive Team honorees and two of the top nine scorers in the history of Loyola basketball.
Last season, Baldwin was instrumental in helping Loyola get off to its best start since 1965-66, while also posting a seven-game winning streak in December, the longest since the 2006-07 campaign. Along the way, the Ramblers posted their first win versus Bradley at Carver Arena since 1984, while also sweeping the regular-season series from city and Horizon League rival UIC for the first time since 2005-06.
