Aurora police seek tips about hit-and-run driver
A pickup truck driver in Aurora seriously injured two teenage boys, throwing one 15 feet and dragging another 100 feet, and Aurora police are looking for information about the vehicle and its driver.
The hit-and-run incident occurred Oct. 22 in a crosswalk near East Aurora High School at 779 Fifth Ave. on the city's east side, according to police.
A westbound vehicle described as a dark-colored, newer-model Dodge Ram with an extended cab struck the boys, ages 15 and 16, about 9:30 p.m. Witnesses told police the driver paused briefly after hitting the teens, then continued driving west on Fifth Avenue.
The boys were seriously injured and paramedics transported them to an Aurora hospital for treatment of broken bones, cuts and scrapes. Their injuries were not life-threatening, officials said.
An investigation has not yielded a more complete description of the vehicle, its driver and the number of occupants. Police ask anyone with information to call traffic investigators at (630) 256-5333 or Aurora Area Crime Stoppers at (630) 892-1000.
