Three times too many for Wheeling 911
For the third time, Wheeling is asking residents to approve an increase in the fee on phone lines to pay for 911 service, from 75 cents to $1.45 a month.
The increase is a minor one that we've supported in the past. The alternative is for the village to pay for any unmet costs out of the general fund.
While that may make 911 harder to fund, voters have spoken twice; it's time for village trustees to tap the general fund as necessary for this essential service.
