Cozy rock show
Folk-rocker Shawn Mullins arrives in the suburbs this weekend to play at the intimate Montrose Room. Mullins, who scored a big hit in 1998 with “Lullaby,” is touring behind his most recent record, “Light You Up,” which came out earlier this month on Vanguard Records.

Halloween fun
Venerable North Side club the Abbey will host its third annual Halloween Fest this weekend. A slew of local bands will take the stage dressed as iconic groups and play covers of those groups' songs. The two-day event will feature different lineups Friday and Saturday; bands scheduled to be covered include the Beatles, the Beach Boys, Nirvana, The Cure and the Pretenders.
