Strong wind advisory for Chicago-Metro area through mid-week
Strong winds and some rain are due to hit Lombard between 4-7 a.m. tomorrow morning, according to the DuPage County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management. The National Weather Service has notified agencies of a severe set of thunderstorms with high sustainable and damaging winds during the next two to three days. Storm models indicate this system has the potential to be the most severe in more than seven years.
Sustained winds between 30-40 m.p.h. are expected tomorrow with gusts between 50-60 m.p.h. off and on until Wednesday evening. The wind gusts are expected to calm through Tuesday night and return on Wednesday.
The village has learned that some school districts may suspend bus services should the winds create travel safety concerns.
Residents are urged to tie down any loose lawn furniture, barbecue grills, fire pits, garbage cans or other items that may be picked up by strong winds.
