Candidate's been there, done that

I recently met a woman who said she is running for DuPage County Board in District 2. She said she is running to make our county government more ethical and transparent and that she wanted to “put people first.”

The interesting thing is that she says she wants to try to do many of the things that our current county board member, Jeff Redick, has already done. Four years ago, Jeff Redick bucked the party bosses and ran against a 20-year incumbent who no longer represented the interests of the people of District 2. Once elected, Jeff Redick led a successful effort to change the county board rules to implement long-term budget planning and require budget impact statements for new or expanded programs.

Jeff Redick helped reduce the 2010 DuPage County budget by almost $30 million, and, as a result, those savings were passed along to DuPage County families in the form of a decrease in the county property tax levy. Jeff has been a leader in reforming DuPage County practices. He authored both the Transparency and Government Accessibility Report and the county's Ethics and Campaign Finance Reform Ordinance. As a result, DuPage County is one of the most open governments in Illinois and serves as a model for other Illinois county governments.

We need an honest and ethical government that is committed to the interest of the people. That is why we need to re-elect Jeff Redick, a proven leader with a record of accomplishment on the DuPage County Board.
