Lombard man accused of sexual assault

A 22-year-old Lombard man is charged with sexual assault after a teenage girl accused him of an ongoing series of attacks that occurred during the past five years.

Authorities said Hasan Qazi knew his victim and began sexually abusing her in 2005. The attacks took place as recently as late September, according to court papers.

The girl, now 14, reported the attacks to authorities and Qazi was arrested in early October, according to court records.

A DuPage County grand jury recently handed up indictments of sexual assault of a child and aggravated sexual abuse. Qazi is being held at the county jail in Wheaton in lieu of a $650,000 bond.

Authorities said Qazi did not provide any written statements to police during interviews. He is being represented by the public defender's office.

Qazi's next scheduled court appearance is Dec. 3.
