Whose country is Walsh fighting for?

“I feel like I'm losing my country,” says the brochure I am handed at a recent parade. They are the words of Joe Walsh, who is running for Congress. I'm looking for the word “our.” I'm looking to be included.

Only a few generations ago the mostly English Protestants of Boston probably thought they “were losing their” city to the Irish Catholics. Joe Walsh is “ready to fight for it” (his country), which apparently does not include Hispanics, Jews, black people, Indians or recent immigrants who fled Iraq when we started a war in their country.

Joe Walsh sounds angry. Anger comes from fear. Fear that the white Protestant/Catholic nation is changing its hue and its religion?
