Survivor feels the 'power of pink'
I would like to give a standing ovation to Steve Rusin and the entire Buffalo Grove Fire Department. I am a breast cancer survivor and when I heard about the Pink Heals Tour cruising the USA in a pink fire truck I was amazed. These guys are driving this truck, on their own time, and getting signatures on the truck wherever it makes stops. I was so disappointed when I heard that the truck would be in BG on September 1st, while I was on vacation.
Well, that didn't stop Steve from helping me sign the truck. On the Thursday evening before I left town, I noticed flashing lights in front of my home. When I looked outside I was motioned to come out. There she was, the most beautiful pink fire truck, sitting in front of my driveway. And right behind it was a bright red fire truck and about eight firefighters waiting for me to come out.
You cannot imagine what I was feeling at that moment. These guys took the time to come to me because I wasn't going to be able to come to them. I was so overwhelmed! There are no words to describe what I was feeling. And then I was being hugged by every one! Then I was handed a magic market, so that I could sign the Pink Fire Truck!
In addition, my three sons decided to buy the ‘Pink Heals' T-shirts that were being sold by Steve to use as their uniform for their softball team in BG. Again, no words to describe what I was feeling!
Thank you, Steve Rusin, and thank you to everyone who is helping to try to find a cure for breast cancer!
