Nothing funny in Stone's behavior

When an election rolls around, I expect those who win, regardless of my vote, to obey the rules, operate with competence and to work for and with the entire community. Government, in my opinion, is serious business.

Yet here in Buffalo Grove, Trustee Lisa Stone makes a mockery of government. What's even worse she is often considered simply entertaining. To those who lightly accept her self-righteous justification that she is just “shaking things up,” realize that she is actually wreaking havoc, and doing so at a high price.

If you find humor in her behavior at the board meetings, I would ask do you think it is funny when the village is forced to pay tens of thousands of dollars for legal fees, for the many costs when meetings run needlessly into all hours of the night, for the many unnecessary FOIA requests and when it loses one of its most respected, competent employees?

Do you think it's not only acceptable but also amusing for a trustee to insult and hurl baseless allegations and be rude to village staff, volunteers and every other public official who represents you? I don't see the humor at all in fact I find it downright disgusting.

How long before this kind of public amusement starts to affect our home values, our insurance rates, and our taxes as we lose more competent staff and the financial rating agencies begin to question the stability of our village? Village trustees, with Lisa Stone in agreement, gave the voters a powerful tool to stop this decidedly unfunny behavior.

I urge all Buffalo Grove voters on Nov. 2 to send Trustee Stone a message we don't find you amusing, we can't afford your kind of entertainment, and we are voting you out.
