Bean has helped create uncertainty

My name is Maria Rodriguez, and I ran against Joe Walsh in the recent primary. This letter is to urge members of the Illinois 8th Congressional District to vote for Joe Walsh on Nov. 2.

As a second-term mayor in the 8th District, I have worked with Melissa Bean for over five years. I have seen the evolution of Melissa Bean the Blue Dog Democrat to the sure vote for Nancy Pelosi. Under Pelosi's leadership, nondefense discretionary spending has increased by 89 percent.

Two more years of Melissa Bean means two more years of this liberal agenda. Legislation like the health care bill has increased economic uncertainty, which has stifled job growth across our country. For the 8th District, however, this is a double whammy. Business taxes in Illinois are prohibitively high. The combination of high Illinois taxes and continued economic uncertainty forces many local businesses to consider moving to a less-hostile environment. Some move overseas, but some just move over the border into Wisconsin.

You could say that every vote for the liberal agenda is a vote against the 8th District. If you supported me in the primary, I am asking you to support Joe Walsh in the general election. As an elected official, you can count on me to work together with him to promote a return to fiscal responsibility in Washington.
