GOP majorities could benefit Obama

Many conservatives and Republicans are in a state of euphoria because of the polling data that predicts massive losses for the Democrats in the elections, possibly resulting in the Republicans winning both houses of Congress. Before their elation gets too high, I would like to remind them of the adage, “Be careful what you wish for because you might get it.” Think back to 1994 when Bill Clinton's presidency was a shambles, so much so that he indeed lost both houses of Congress to the Republican party. Had that not happened, his administration would have continue to stumble and make poor decisions and come to an end in 1996. However, because the Republican Congress did such a good job, it made Bill Clinton look good and he was elected to a second term. It was good for the country but bad for the Republicans who wanted one of their own to be president.

It's a Catch-22, folks. Win Congress in November and undo the damage that has been done (i.e., repeal Obamacare, cease unbelievably massive spending of borrowed money, cut taxes to stimulate hiring and thereby increase revenue to the government to spend wisely and pay its debts) and the country will begin to function well, making Obama look like a good president and ensuring him a second term.

Of course this will only happen if he is smart enough to do what Clinton did, go along with the Republican Congress and appear to be more conservative than he actually is. Can he possibly be that smart?
