Plenty of humanity on cable talk shows
In Marie Kelly's letter (Fence Post, Oct. 7) regarding the interview on MSNBC of Levi Johnston, she failed in inform the reader of a few items. He wants to be mayor of Wasilla, Alaska. Lawrence O'Donnell asked him questions that were originally asked of Sarah Palin as a vice presidential candidate. The question on Levi getting his GED was a follow-up, since Bristol Palin on Jay Leno a few weeks ago made reference to his education.
Here is a kid who along with Bristol Palin has been used by the media for their own gain. Mr. O'Donnell at least got an answer on what he reads maybe not the most intellectual reading material, but Levi give him an answer! As far as anyone's humanity, Ms. Kelly whether Mr. O'Donnell or any other host of a cable show their guests go on hoping for exposure and getting their views across, and the problem isn't the person doing the interview, asking pertinent questions and getting facts out to the viewers. Though I'm not a real fan of Mr. O'Donnell he is far from stupid and the show isn't supposed to be funny I want probing questions and answers, not campaign slogans, talking points or rhetoric.
I do watch all three cable networks during the evening, and if I miss one, they are all repeated into the wee hours. You'd be surprised at the humanity I have seen and what you have missed.
