Des Plaines invited to see Cumberland School improvements

Des Plaines community members, parents, students and staff are invited to attend an open house hosted by Des Plaines Elementary District 62 school board and Cumberland Principal Colleen White, 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26.

Cumberland is the first school remodeling finished in District 62's comprehensive three-year master plan, which began last year.

School improvements include reconfigured vehicular and pedestrian traffic; upgraded security at main entrances and offices; renovated restrooms; upgraded infrastructure including mechanical, electrical, and fire alarm/fire sprinkler systems; upgraded technology infrastructure and new flooring, ceilings, lighting and casework in classrooms.

Following tours, a reception will be hosted by the Cumberland parent-teacher organization in the gymnasium.
