Son charged with fatally beating 94-year-old mom

CROWN POINT, Ind. — A man has been charged with murder in the beating death of his 94-year-old mother in her northwestern Indiana home, just outside the Gary city limits.

The Post-Tribune of Merrillville says 59-year-old George Knezevic was charged Tuesday with murder. He previously was charged with three counts of neglect of a dependent, four counts of battery and a single count of pointing a firearm.

Authorities say Knezevic beat, choked and struck Ljubica Knezevic with a shoe on Oct. 13 as she sat outside the family home.

The Associated Press left a telephone message Wednesday seeking comment from defense lawyer Lee Holcomb.
