Daily Herald wins NINA awards
The Daily Herald won four first-place awards in the annual Northern Illinois Newspaper Association contest Wednesday in DeKalb.
The first-place winners among the daily newspaper category were Burt Constable for personality profile, Bob McCoppin for technology/medical, Jamie Sotonoff, Kerry Lester and John Radtke for best sports story, and Mark Welsh for best video.
The Daily Herald also won second-place awards for best website and best spot news. Joe Ryan and Marni Pyke took second for best community service.
Photographer Bev Horne took home a third-place prize for best sports photo.
The awards were presented during NINA's fall conference banquet at Northern Illinois University.
