Early voting is convenient and easy for residents
Last Tuesday, I did something that probably seven out of 10 folks won't do Nov. 2.
It doesn't make me special or better than everyone else, though.
All I did was vote.
And it was simple.
As I've opined in this space before, early voting is convenient and time saving.
What if your car breaks down on Nov. 2 and you can't make it to your neighborhood polling place?
Or if you plan to vote after work and your train is late?
Or the boss asks you to work some overtime?
I was able to vote at Elgin city hall in a matter of minutes.
And you can vote there or at a variety of other locations no matter where you live in Kane County.
The election folks simply look at your driver's license, input where you're from and, boom, an electronic ballot with the races applicable to your town appear on the screen.
It's that simple and convenient, but the opportunity only lasts through Oct. 28.
You have plenty of time.
Janus Theatre will present “Macbeth by William Shakespeare in early November at the Elgin Art Showcase on the eighth floor of the Professional Building, 164 Division St.
The 80-minute play is adapted and directed by Sean Hargadon.
“We want to reveal the unsettling nature of the play without the use of excessive special effects or contrived horror clichés, Hargadon said.
“We believe our hyper-intimate production will give the audience a renewed appreciation of one man's descent into paranoia and fear. Think of the laboratory theaters in the 19th century and you get a sense of the disection of character that we're going for in this play.
“Macbeth will be performed at 8 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and 7 p.m. Sundays, Nov. 4-14.
Tickets are $15 and can be reserved by calling the box office at (847) 841-1713. For information, visit janustheatre.wordpress.com.
